Beautiful Scenery

I was reinstalling a mobile phone tools program on my PC the other day when something odd dawned on me...why are there sexy lil catholic schoolgirl pictures on my monitor? Why are these other sexually suggestive women plastered all over my software install? It's a software install for Christ's sake! This got me to thinking and well, that's never a good thing. I started thinking about how I could take this outburst of sexuality in something as unsexy as a software installation. Well...

I decided to get pissed.

I work in a very unusual work environment and along with the type of personality I possess, I am exposed to behavior most men save for the clubhouse. Is it real or just macho posing bullshit? Is it genuine or do some of them feel the need to overcompensate because they are afraid someone will question their sexuality? That, dear reader, I don't have the intellect to delve into, so let's move on shall we?

Are people, specifically men, that devoid of beautiful women in their lives that software companies feel the need to include them during an installation? Seriously, think about this for a second... I know what you're thinking, but stick with me here...

Maybe it's because everyday, I walk into men's offices and I'm typically inundated with pictures on the walls and desktops of barely clothed women or anime borderline kiddie porn. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of men without these particular decorations surrounding them during their workday, but the majority is what I refer to here tonight.

Usually I'm not bothered, I either don't notice or I'm amused by each man's particular tastes. All the same, when I go over to the Corporate offices, it's an environment that's very different. Very professional, stiff and cold. No nekkid chicks, but not the best place to work either.

The esteem funk I've been in surely has to contribute to this particular bitter fest, and no, I'm obviously not a totally hot chick and sure I get jealous at times, but that doesn't make it any less real to me.

All that being said...

Seriously, man...a software install?

It Happens...

Over the next few days, the parking lot I rent a space in is having the pavement re-sealed. This leaves me to fend for myself and find street parking. Back home, this certainly wasn't an issue as Texas is one giant parking lot, but here in Chicago, I am in an overpopulated race to find space. Having a quad cab truck doesn't typically make parking a breeze, but if a spot is found early enough in the day, it isn't so bad.

Last night, Kevin found a decent spot for my baby, my most expensive purchase to date, my lovely beast, my truck. Apparently someone felt the need to not pay attention to where their vehicle was going and proceeded to hit my truck. My poor truck. They dented the rear bumper, busted the taillight and scraped the paint off the rear corner. Fucker! I realize this is minor in the scheme of things and I have decent coverage, so I'm not sweatin it too much, but that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is this individual didn't have the balls to stand up and say, I did this and now I'm going to take responsibility for it.

Apparently it is just too much too ask for some people to say ?I fucked up, let me make things better.? Lord knows, I'm no fuckin saint and I screw up just as much as anyone else, if not more. But when I do, I like to think I take it like the ballsy broad I am!

The thing that strikes me as funny in all this is the following...

A few weeks ago when Kevin backed into a parked car, he left a note, filed a police report, called the insurance company and just all around, did the right thing.

Karma, ain't it a cranky lil bitch.

Ring Ring?

So I acquired a rather user friendly shirt this weekend that I'm pleased to debut here. Click here, dear reader.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to wearing that to work tomorrow.

That picture was taken with my trusty new Motorola V400 phone. We have a new carrier for our work phones which gave me the opportunity to upgrade my phone (I paid for this model myself). The IT Department received new phones, along with portions of the rest of The Company (new contract with only one carrier to make things easier).

Unfortunately, our new carrier bites. The incredibly poor signal strength and dropped calls has been a bit annoying to say the least. We typically are unable to complete a call within any of our work buildings, but I have found that if I'm in the IT Lab, a call will go through with minimal breakups if I open the door to the Lab. I have no idea how that makes any sense. It should be interesting to see how the users react to the new carrier.

I'm willing to shell out the cash myself for better service coverage, so if anyone knows a carrier I can use the V400 with, please let me know.
