Various Pieces
Kevin and The Farm Boy spent a solid 4 ? hours going through therapy Friday night.
It was an evening of possible free agent acquisitions, lists of who goes-who stays and just generally an all around positive atmosphere of the famous words of Cubs fans everywhere??Wait until next year.? Both seemed amazingly relieved as time passed and the conversation turned from depression to excitement, complete with print outs and thorough position by position analysis. I felt I was watching a talk show, complete with call ins commentary by yours truly.
Each year I have been in Chicago, I have witnessed this ritual. Each year I?m surprised. Cub fans are a different breed altogether, this fact known by most, but the way they pick themselves up off the floor each year never ceases to amaze me. It?s quite commendable really.
Being an Astros fan, I?m used to making it to the Playoffs then losing in the first round. It?s consistent and something I can count on, some years may vary. I?m disappointed sure, but I can usually count on an above .500 year with some payoff in the end. I?m hoping today?s game proves the payoff to be the Wild Card berth in the NL (Thank you Dodgers).

In other news, my Fantasy Football Team is 2-1 this year and I?m hoping to continue that winning record today, despite the Minnesota BYE. I?ve got a decent enough lineup, but really, I?ve just gotten lucky. Culpepper is always dependable, Faulk is inconsistent at best, Barber and Toomer do an average job on a regular basis and my TE is absolutely useless. Roethlisberger is a risk, but I like his chances against Cincy. This week will be tough with the recent injuries of Stokley and Faulk, but maybe I?ll get lucky again.

Let me be the first to say Congrats on the Astros Wild Card berth and best of luck. Hopefully they can knock of the hated Cards after they get past Atlanta. And, well, barring a defensive explosion tomorrow night, your luck continues in your Fantasy team. So congrats twice.
