There's no crying in baseball!

Well...maybe there is...thank you Fox.

Is it not bad enough that we are subjected to the absolute torture that is FOX MLB commentary, but now we have to deal with their oh so very wise words in the ways of Baseball Etiquette? Case in point is tonight's Red Sox vs. A's Game 5 match up. Manny Ramirez pounds a ball that will surely go down in Red Sox history, watches it fly out of the park, proceeds to point to his teammates on the bench and jogs around the bases. So? So we viewers are now treated to a lengthy talking-to by Steve Lyons and Thom Brennaman about why that was so wrong and how Manny is certainly destined for the Gates of Hell. Come on! What is so wrong with celebrating a fabulous pitch inside, a homerun or a deadly double play? Apparently professional athletes have grown so accustomed to their gigantic egos, they can't take a little competitive celebration. This is getting far from ridiculous. After Barry Bonds puffed up at Carlos Zambrano for celebrating striking him out, I have been noticing this more and more. It's not like Zambrano was ecstatic about striking out a mediocre player. It was BarryfuckingBonds; one of the best hitters to ever live! I'm not talking about excessive celebration or taunting here dear reader, but joy and excitement in its most simple form. Pride in contributing. Pride in doing the job you are so incredibly fortunate to have. Pride in yourself. So I toast my glass to all the Zambranos and Ramirezes of the world. Have fun. Celebrate. Enjoy the glory that you are due.

So let's take this moment to say the following:
I am 5-0 in my fantasy football league. I'm kicking all kinds of programmer ass! Muhahahahaha!

I wholeheartedly agree with the FOX commentary.

Steve Lyons is a dumbass.

The worst was them repeatedly using the term "cowboy up." It just loses any charm when it's not "cowboy the fuck up."

Sorry, that was supposed to be

I wholeheartedly agree with you about the FOX commentary.

Me smart.

:)

Man, when he chimed in with his lame Boston accent, that was painful. It was almost, almost as bad as when Thom yelled out "Buckner!" and Steve nicely added, "It's the same exact play!" in the 9th inning. Bullshit! It wasn't anywhere near the same play, except it was ocurring at first.

I don't know if I can last through the rest of the playoffs with these morons.

On another note...oh man, how about that brutal collision with Jackson and Damon? Poor Johnny Damon. He's the man with the superhero name! He can't be hurt by a mere mortal!

Actually, Karen, Zambrano caught a line drive off of Bonds' bat, which is even greater cause for celebration. He didn't just strike him out. He jammed him inside and then made a great defensive play on the mound.

Thanks for the clarification, honey :)

Well, Lyons is as moronic as usual, but I have to say, I think Leiter's pretty good. I find myself actually listening to what he says, as opposed to trying to just ignore it.

I usually blot out the sound with the ESPN radio broadcast, when I can get it. It's infinitely preferable most of the time.

For the Cubs games, I normally would do WGN but the streaming audio is slightly delayed (which is horrible for a live game) and it's just not the same without Ron Santo living and dying with each play anyways.

Leiter is fine, I agree. I have no issues with Joe Buck or even the ESPN commentary staff (with the exception of when Chris Berman rears his ugly head).

I definitely try to listen to WGN when I can and they did finally fix the time delay on Sunday. I have not listened these last two games for various reasons, so I'm not sure if the timing is still synced up.

Ron not being around does indeed take a lot of the joy out of it, yukino. You are so right there. Steve Stone does a great job filling in though.
