Several Short & Sweet Musings
Few things, dear reader...
One of The White Guy's, latest entries introduced me to the following site: WWGrapevine
Sorry for stealing yet another blog entry, Paul, but it's too good to pass up. It took me a second or two to get used to, but I have to say, it's yet another reason for me to sit here with my laptop and surf away. Yeah! Try it on for size, it's pretty interesting. Not only to see what other people out there are surfing, which gets mighty odd at times, but I like to think of it as my own personal news ticker.

I have to say this, but seriously, what is so fucking offensive about the 10 Commandments? Yes, I understand the separation of Church & State just fine, thank you very much, but to suggest "Thou shall not kill," is that really so bad of a thing? To those of you just dying to comment on this and put me in my place, don't bother. I know what ya'll have to say and I understand & respect why you want to say it, but spare me. It's just a simple observation not meant to stir up political conversation.

Yeah, I'm all torn up about this one: May he rot

Finally, Bobby Bonds died. That sucks.
Comments
The point of separation between Church and State is to protect churches from the state. If the state endorsed or appeared to endorse a specific religion, it would be at the expense of all others. This is the type of religious persecution that the people who founded this country were trying to escape.
For example, if a judge were a Scientologist, would you want him to have a plaque with some Scientologist stuff on the rotunda of the state courthouse?

Boy! What did I say?
"Don't bother."
Now, don't you have a Ho Dean function to go to or something? :)
Posted by: Princess | August 23, 2003 6:18 PM
That's on Tuesday, and you can't post something like that and not expect people to comment.
Posted by: vince | August 23, 2003 6:27 PM
Alright fine, good point, Kevin said the same thing, blah blah blah.
I will clarify: I will not comment to your comments :)
Tuesday, that's right, I get to raid your office and take apart your PC while you're gone...oh yeah! Sure, you think you're getting a new video card, but mwha ha ha...

Actually, all I said was is, "He's right." Which he also was about the feds going after porn. Remember, of course, that it was Clinton who signed the Communications Decency Act that was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, so it's not as though Dems are much better on "obscenity" speech issues.

Wasn't a large portion of the CDA meant to curb child porn? I really can't argue with that one.
Oh, and Vince is 100% right. That judge would be screaming bloody murder if it was a portion of the Koran (sp?) up there, but he preaches self-righteousness when it's HIS god being represented. He's an ass. There's nothing wrong with the 10 Commandments, they are exceptionally true as to how to live life in a good way, and you can display them anywhere you want, but not on public land.
Posted by: crowdpleazr | August 24, 2003 9:09 AM
No, the CDA was not largely to prevent child porn. Here's a good article that outlines it all:
http://www.cdt.org/speech/cda/
OK people, you're all correct, I knew that going into this, but it still bothers me. I just wish we'd spend our time persecuting people doing more harm than this guy. Dig it?

so....
bobby bonds died, eh??
Posted by: jojo | August 24, 2003 11:52 AM
Hey, what with "thou shalt not covet thy neighbours wife"?
Can we debate that one? At least it makes a more interesting discussion :)
- Robert
Posted by: groby | August 24, 2003 3:26 PM
Yeah, jojo...loved the change of subject. :)
That indeed is a more interesting conversation, Robert. Does it have to be neighbor as in next door or someone you just know? I always wondered that...
Posted by: Princess | August 24, 2003 3:46 PM
Clinton may have signed the CDA, but he did end the Justice Department going after pornagraphers (except, of course, child porn - those people should rot in hell). I didn't support Clinton on the CDA then either (it was a bad and stupid bill created out of fear of the unknown).
But I still call myself a democrat. How can this be? Because unlike the Republican party, the Democratic party is more tolerant dissent and differing opinions than the Republicans. How else can you explain a party that has both Lieberman and Kucinich as members?

I thought we were talking about Bonds and coveting? :)
Posted by: Princess | August 24, 2003 10:16 PM
I covet the type of women Bonds was probably able to get on a regular basis, and if that's wrong, I don't want to know what right is.
Posted by: crowdpleazr | August 24, 2003 10:29 PM
gezus, who would've known this blog entry would've sparked soooo much political controversy? it must suck to be the princess today.

My brain hurts.

I'd like to leave a comment, question or other.
This site sure is "colorful"!
Posted by: An Occasional Visitor | August 24, 2003 10:49 PM
Very funny...
Spoke with my folks tonight and my father said the following, "Looked at your site lately. It sure is, uh, um colorful."
Classic.

BTW, I just re-read the 10 Commandments article and I didn't even notice that this thing is a 5,300 pound monument! That's crazy!
Anyway, Bill Maher had a good point about this on his show (note: I find Bill Maher only mildly entertaining, but once in a while he makes a good point). If you look at the 10 commandments, only 2 of them have anything to do with law - "Thow shalt not kill" and "Thou shalt not steal." Everything else has nothing do with law - even if they may be good ideas, is isn't against the law to follow them. So even more reason this has no business in a courthouse.

Bobbie Bonds Dead???? I thought he was just picked up on probation violations. Dead huh??
Trying to change the subject to a more nonpolitical, nontechnical subject - did you read about the American who opened up an ice factory in Germany??
Very interesting reading............

A 5300 lb. monument? I didn't even see that! I thought he had some piece of paper or some such thing.
Yes, Bobby Bonds is dead and he's never been on probabtion :)

A big "amen" to Vince. Except for stealing, murdering, and bearing false witness, NONE belong in the american judicial system. Geez, "You shall have no other gods before me." Next thing you know, he'll be posting documents about how women are "unclean." Need more? Here they are, read 'em:
ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'
THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'
FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'
FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'
SIX: 'You shall not murder.'
SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'
EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
Posted by: BillS | August 25, 2003 1:02 PM
I covet donkeys on a regular basis, but that's an entirely different matter!
Posted by: crowdpleazr | August 25, 2003 5:03 PM
Are we talking the same Bobbie Brown that was with Whitney Houston???

Where to begin? So many little things I see in this little circle under the faces of a tyrant, I'm utterly amused by it.
Thick strands of black cover your eyes from reality, as you look upon a desolate world under the idealisms of 'God'.
Religion, worship, dreams of eternal damnation and blessing... All of it, purely amusing. You do not seem to understand the meaning of 'God'.
I will explain the purpose of 'God', and why not only does he NOT belong in a judicial system, but also not in your life at all...
Lets start from on-topic though: CIRCUMSTANCE. The reasons in to which a man/woman may choose to violate the Ten Commandments of God given to Moshy whom was utterly, utterly insane, are subject ENTIRELY to circumstance.
First, God was NOT speaking to any of you 'heathen heretics', he was speaking to 'HIS' people, the Jews. You, according to the Jewish Tribe (and it IS a tribe), are nothing above a sheep. As a Sheep, you are too low to be able to recognize the word of God, and therefore his rule is not to applied to you, but however, his authority grants rule of you to Jews.
Therefore, in BASE circumstance, the Ten Commandments do NOT apply to you as the law of God, but the law of Jews whom you must obey. Second, I'll recognize the fact that God's own law STATED by Moses FOR the Jews, was easily ignored in direction toward non-Jews.
If you don't understand, you may take a quick history lesson and muse over the slaughter and destruction the Jews brought upon their neighbors, as the word and rule of God. This means in the subject circumstance, a Jew who kills a non-Jew is exempt entirely from the laws of God, it is no more than killing a sheep.
That is where it changes to the law of man, that there be ANY equality to begin with. But I won't simply lay dormant like a terminal disease in the body of a little girl, because there's so much more...
Jesus Christ, son and avatar of Jehova, the Jewish God (not your saviour, by the way), shares something in common with all other major religious advocations of 'gods' that walked on the Earth. It's not too obvious at first, but do a little research. Here's a hint: Dec. 25th, birthday of Jesus, also Budda, and another...
Well, I've just provided a small amount of evidence to destroy the Christian, Catholic and generally all religious belief that revolves around Christ... Same with Good ol' Budda, but you know, I'm festering to a boil and spreading over this body of cancer that eats away at all life.
Lets move on further down the line. Jesus himself was a typical Jew according to the Bible. He offered even less kindness and mercy without blatant discrimenation than I do, and I'm only interested in ripping out the very foundation of your life's goal...
Jesus treated non-Jews as vermin, and dogs. He was never interested in helping any non-Jew, and since it was entirely directed toward Jews in God's law, and the matters of State do so rarely concern Jewish Leaders making shepards to us as flocks, there is only left the Law of Man.
This world, its people, we are of no God, we do not serve any lord. We seek neither salvation in our heart, nor our body. We live to live, not to be prisoners, and yet our uncontrollable fear of the unknown drives us to lie to ourselves, to believe someone loves us, and will protect us when our bodies crumble to dust.
I seek no praise, thanks, gifts or even recognition. I seek nothing more than the death of religion.
I offer freedom of mind, for I live in a world free of shame, guilt, envy, desire and woe. I have all that I desire in life, for no God is above me. I have all that a man would envy, for I am free of worry. I have no woe, for my own strength brings me prosperity. I have no guilt, for there is no judge to look down upon me. I have no shame, for I have crafted my own existence, and from it, I have proven against falsehood.
For those who follow, welcome to a godless world of happiness and joy. There is no end to this world, because once you realize God doesn't exist, it quickly comes to pass, death, God's weapon of judgment, is something entirely misunderstood.
Goodluck,
The Lord of the Flies.
P.S
Those wondering about my name, Satan has offen been attributed to be the end of all things pleasurable in existence. I am the Avatar of Experience and in the end, happiness. I achieve material and mental peace by my own means, without Jehova. Therefore, it is only fitting irony, that it be a man as the Guise of Satan, whom would demonstrate the folly of God and religion, rather than one of God's Angels and creations.

I have to honestly say that I didn't read all of these postings, but Princess- going back to your original statement- I agree with you. Religous or not, the "10" are good ideas. I think not killing - a good idea, not stealing - another good idea. And so on....you get the picture. Maybe they should have been called the 10 good ideas. And yes, it starts out with having no gods before me and you shall not make for yourself an idol - but you don't HAVE to believe everything you read. So rock on sister friend! If no one else has your back, you can count on me!
